![]() ![]() ![]() It’s also somewhat quiet for a while until Jack’s delirium catches up with him in the form of a frog warning Jack that the assassins are coming. This scene has some great animation, especially with the camera trying to track Jack’s body as it narrowly avoids rocks and other obstacles while careening down the river. “XCIV” begins exactly where we left off, with Jack drifting down the river after his battle. Time is short, however, as Jack is forced to make an explosive retreat, leaving him unconscious and bleeding in a river, floating away in the stream. The samurai fights hard until he kills one of the assassins, only to be horrified to learn that they are not the usual robots normally sent to kill him. Regardless, Jack forges ahead into a temple to seek refuge until he is hunted down by the assassins. He is tormented by his inner self, who whispers thoughts of suicide into his head. ![]() Meanwhile, Jack encounters the Daughters of Aku for the first time and is completely out matched by their speed and skill. The Shogun of Sorrow, Aku grows more worried with each passing day about his foe, unaware that the sword that can destroy him has left the samurai’s hands and had not been seen since. ![]()
